Matching Funds Benefit

The Association supports its members' Assembly-sponsored fund-raising efforts for community projects, local organizations and people in need by offering matching funds for these worthy causes. The Association, upon approval, will match the net funds raised by an assembly up to a maximum of $1,000 to help a member in need, assist a community project, or help a needy person or family in the community.

GUIDELINES:
  1. An assembly can receive matching funds for the same project only once every two calendar years. (730 calendar days from completion of project the first time.)
  2. The project must be done for a needy individual or family, a not-for-profit organization, or a community project in the community where the assembly is located.
  3. Assemblies may combine projects with other assemblies if assembly officers are in agreement.
  4. Only one project may be done at a time. No concurrent projects are permitted.
  5. Projects must be pre-approved by the Association.
FUNDS CANNOT BE USED IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:
  1. In order to retain the assembly's identity, it is not recommended that the assembly combine projects with other organizations. Any combined project must be pre-approved by the Executive Committee.
  2. Funds cannot be used for generating additional funds for the assembly treasury.
  3. Funds cannot be used to assist an organization which is organized for profit.
  4. Funds cannot be used for payment of professional fees or salaries.
PROCEDURES FOR MATCHING FUNDS PROJECTS:
  1. Members must vote to accept responsibility for the project.
  2. A working committee must be appointed.
  3. At least 10 members must make a commitment to be actively involved with the project. At least 5 members must be involved if assembly has less than 100 members.
  4. The assembly must plan the project and determine the amount of funds needed.
  5. Form No. 270 must be obtained from the Fraternal Department.
  6. Submit completed Form No. 270 along with other required information to the Fraternal Department.
  7. Once the project has been approved, it must be started within 60 days and completed within one year from date of approval.
  8. There is a $1,000 maximum matching funds per project. Additional funds must come from the assembly treasury or from additional fund-raising proceeds raised solely by the assembly.
  9. Only the amount of the net funds raised for a project will be eligible for matching.
  10. Prior to disbursement of matching funds, the Executive Committee must approve an itemization of funds raised and expenses paid for each event.
