Orphan College Scholarship Benefit |
|
In addition to offering a fraternal benefit for the care of a member's orphaned child, Equitable Reserve goes a step further and provides financial support for the orphaned child's education. If approved, the Association will grant to the qualified candidate a scholarship for tuition and maintenance up to but not exceeding $10,000. An orphan who is receiving the Orphan Benefit from the Association, upon graduation from high school and no later than attaining age 19, and upon qualifying to enter an accredited college, university, or technical school, may apply to the Association for an Orphan Scholarship grant. If approved, the Association will grant to the qualified candidate a scholarship for tuition and maintenance up to but not exceeding $10,000, which shall be paid in periodic payments not exceeding $2,500 for any school year. The scholarship shall cease and no further payments be made if the recipient should fail to maintain full-time student status, voluntarily leave school, or be suspended or terminated from school because of academic or disciplinary problems. A person receiving an Orphan Scholarship shall not be eligible for additional local assembly scholarship funds. |
